Decommissioning

Petroltecnica deals with the conversion of the industrial areas with particular care to the environmental problems, such as: waste management, asbestos decommissioning and equipment/material recycling.

Multidisciplinary approach to decommissioning, demolition and disposal/recycling of disused equipment and structures

Decommissioning
In case of demolition of metal structures, the decommissioning requires to follow different steps Petroltecnica takes with its internal resources:

  • Research and creation of the PICK OUT of the materials present in the structures in order to avoid to mix waste.
  • Detailed planning of demolitions, lifting plans, etc.
  • List of needed equipment and resources.
  • Evaluation of the volumes of waste produced when arranging the necessary areas for the preliminary storing and the recycling and disposal programs.
  • Location of the areas for metal volume reduction.
  • Study of possible mobile plants for waste recycling.

ASBESTOS DECOMMISSIONING
Industrial sites falling in disuse often have remarkable quantities of asbestos with compact or friable matrix. Petroltecnica can assess and map the asbestos, draw up plans for its removal according to the regulations in force and manage the waste disposal, assuring its traceability and the submission of the disposal certification.

BUILDING DEMOLITION
Building demolition represents a crucial phase. During the planning, it is necessary to evaluate if the stony materials can be recycled or disposed of. In the first case, a mobile plant to treat/recycle waste must be used. The demolition can be of traditional type (by means of excavators with grippers) or with micro-charges with “controlled explosion”.
