Pipes

Leak test for underground pipes

The system enables to monitor the fuel transfer pipes, with minimum interventions to disconnect the plant parts and the greatest result reliability.

ADVANTAGES – Compared to present technologies

1) Simple application
Thanks to limited activities of disconnection, to the fact that there is no need to empty the pipes and to the visual inspection on a graduated cylinder.

2) Result precision and certainty
Thanks to the following objective factors: product level inside the detection capillary and pressure value on the manometer.

3) Saving and minor costs
Since the setup and execution activities are very short, the intervention time is limited, as well as any possible plant stops.

FEATURES

1) The device is composed of n. 2 aluminium tanks for the product (water, oil or petrol) storage, with two transparent level indication capillaries: one for detecting and one for comparing, and a connection system between tanks and capillaries.

2) Moreover, the device is equipped with a pressure manometer with a full scale of 2.5 bars and with a pressure regulator to check the test pressure.

3) All components are put inside a plastic resin container, with IP 55 protection, fixed on a wheeled chassis to enable its transportation.

SCHEMATIZATION

1) The device is connected to the pipes to be tested. The tested pipes, the connection pipes and the capillaries are filled in with the product normally present.

2) The system is put under pressure by means of an inert gas (nitrogen). The gas under pressure increases the gravimetric head inside the pipe connected to  those to be tested until the desired value.

3) The indication of absence of pipe tightness is shown by the decrease of product level inside the detection capillary, caused by its coming out through the pipe defect.
